Foreword
HOMOGRAFÍA Festival returns to Les Grands-Carmes for a unique evening dedicated to decolonial Arab performance, music and collective celebration.
At a time when artistic spaces are increasingly called upon to confront systems of exclusion and representation, this special edition brings together artists whose work challenges dominant narratives and creates room for alternative voices, stories and desires.
We are delighted to welcome Lebanese multidisciplinary artist Queer Falafel, who will present You Don’t Look Arab for the first time in Brussels. Working at the intersection of visual arts, live music, performance and text, Queer Falafel explores the complex realities of Arab identity through a fiercely political and deeply personal practice. His work confronts white supremacy, the fetishisation of feminised Arab bodies and enduring forms of Orientalism, while opening spaces for resistance, humour and self-determination. You Don’t Look Arab continues this powerful exploration, inviting audiences to question the assumptions that shape how bodies, identities and belonging are perceived.
Following the success and emotional resonance of MASTERCLASS ON THE DANCEFLOOR at last year’s festival, we are delighted to bring back this much-loved format. This year, the artivist Fed Up Mama joins Raoul Rul for an intimate conversation centred on the music that has shaped their lives, struggles and communities. Part listening session, part dialogue, this encounter celebrates music as a tool for memory, solidarity and transformation.
The evening will also feature a striking performance by local heroine Blister Fleg. In Les Cafards Sont Passion, she brings her singular artistic universe to the stage before opening the dancefloor under her musical alter ego, Solange, with a carefully curated selection to set the tone for the night ahead.
As the performances give way to celebration, the dancefloor will become a space for gathering, movement and shared energy through a line-up dedicated to the richness and diversity of SWANA sounds.
Falamalef, the musical project of Queer Falafel, delivers live vocal DJ sets that fuse Industrial Techno, Acid and Breakcore into brutal, gritty and exhilarating sonic landscapes. Dark yet playful, dystopian yet deeply embodied, his high-energy performances move between relentless kicks, percussive breakdowns and irresistible rhythms designed for collective release.
Born in Bethlehem and shaped by Haifa’s underground scene, prnc blends Arab pop with electronic textures in sets that navigate rhythm, tension and release. Now based in Brussels and resident at Gazelle L’Hafla, he approaches DJing as a radical political act, creating spaces where celebration and resistance become inseparable.
To close the evening, our friend Madame Patate from Radio Panik will take us on one final journey. Expect rare gems, unexpected discoveries and the perfect ending to a night devoted to artistic freedom, imagination and the transformative power of music.
Join us for an evening of performances, conversations and dancing that celebrates the multiplicity of SWANA cultures while challenging the white dominant structures that seek to contain them. More than a programme, this is an invitation to listen differently, move together and imagine other ways of being in the world.
