Foreword
In 2015, Homografía was born in Mexico as a radical space of convergence: a festival where bodies, identities, politics and poetics met across borders, defying marginalisation with movement, sound, image and resistance. Ten years on, and now also hosted in Brussels (since 2019), we celebrate a decade of queer artistic experimentation rooted in the shared urgency to confront violence, reclaim narratives, and reimagine futures.
This anniversary edition is not a retrospective. It is a continuation, a rupture, and a declaration: that lgbtqia+ creativity remains a force of life, not in spite of adversity, but precisely in response to it. The need to gather, to make space for one another, and to hold complexity without compromise, remains as vital as ever.
In 2025, Homografía turns its focus towards three urgent axes: Community & cooperation as a way to FIGHT ; a reflexion on BODIES, whether they are physical, political or creative ; and HIV activism which will raise questions such as queer archiving urgency. These are not separate themes, but deeply interconnected realities.
We will be all over Brussels in our supporting venues La Bellone (for an opening night to remember), Beursschouwburg and its dazzling programme of performances and La Fabriek for closing party that is also a way to support us ; this year, Les Grands Carmes will serve as the festival centre for three days of performances, installations, screenings, and community exchange. The venue’s layered history and communal energy make it the ideal ground for gathering, dreaming, and dissenting.
The support of our partners reflects a shared commitment to fostering space for queer expression beyond assimilation and tokenism. Homografía 2025 is not a retrospective—it is a living, moving archive of queer art as struggle, ritual, and joy.
