Biography
Lechedevirgen (Querétaro, Mexico) is a non-binary, heterodissident Mexican artist in constant mutation, specialized in hybrid and expanded artistic forms that combine performance, critical writing, image creation, drag, photography, and video. They conceive their artistic work as a tool of political and poetic disobedience.
Their work reflects on non-binary/non-human entities, sexual dissidence, anti-colonialism, anti-racism, occultism, violence, and death. A representative figure of Mexican counterculture and a pioneer of post-pornography—where gender discrimination and systemic oppressions are deconstructed—they are the author of Pensamiento Puñal and the subversive aphorism “I don’t feel pride, I feel rage”, which has spread throughout Mexico as a critical phrase against hate crimes and the pinkwashing of white gay pride.
At the beginning of their career, their performances were described by the Queretaro Institute of Culture and the Arts as “junkie satanic orgies.”
Lechedevirgen has presented performances and exhibitions internationally in Europe, Canada, the United States, Colombia, and Mexico.
