Ahmad Bábá

Biography

Ahmad Bábá is a Lebanese multidisciplinary performance artist, dancer, and creative facilitator based in Berlin. Their work spans dance, multimedia, curation, and drag, exploring body politics, exile, and queer identities through non-westernized perspectives. Drawing from their Lebanese and diasporic experiences, Baba’s performances reimagine queer temporalities within Arab popular culture, often focusing on the Levant and Egypt through the lenses of cinema, music, and nostalgia. Holding an MA in Dance Movement Psychotherapy, they specialize in therapeutic and creative practices with marginalized sexual and gender minorities, using performance as a tool for healing and self-expression. Bábá’s work challenges dominant narratives of identity, offering new ways to think about the intersections of race, gender, and culture in the context of displacement. Baba’s performance “أجساد من علق / Our Queer Future is a Past Tense” has received grants and been performed in various countries both within and beyond Germany. Curator of of Buffer fringe performance arts festival Nicosia.
